"Il Cassero" in Bologna is an LGBTI non-profit association of social promotion, founded in 1982. They count over 15,000 members and over 200 volunteers and activists.
Cassero is open 365 days a year to host, inform, protect and entertain people, working in collaboration with a strong network composed of local, national and international structures. It is a space for cultural, social and political confrontation.
Cassero is part of IGLYO Member Arcigay, the national network of LGBTI associations, and of ILGA and IGLYO. They have also been active in promoting education programmes for youngsters, teachers and educators on LGBTI+ issues for more than 30 years.
Cassero's main objectives are to enhance and advance LGBTI+ culture and its consumption, to promote solidarity in human behaviour, to protect individual and collective civil rights, to prevent discriminations based on sexual orientations or gender identities, and to ensure help for physical and psychical health in the LGBTI community.
