About this Webinar
In 2023, our IGLYO Member ECOM prepared an analysis of national legislation related to the rights of LGBTQI people and HIV status in 12 CEECA countries.
The purpose of a comparative analysis of legislative barriers preventing LGBTQI people from fully enjoying their rights in 12 CEECA countries is to show progress or, in some countries, conversely, regression in the development of legislation and law enforcement practice that allows or prohibits LGBTQI people from enjoying their human rights.
The updated analysis for the end of 2021 - beginning of 2023 shows the main changes and provides a list of key advocacy recommendations where the attention of national teams and international organisations is needed to improve the human rights situation in the 12 countries of the region.
At this webinar, ECOM will discuss the results of the analysis and trends in the region, namely:
- increased anti-LGBTQI sentiment, legislation and policies;
- consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic;
- gaps in legislation and outdated legal norms in countries that prevent LGBTQI people from fully realising their rights;
- positive changes in the legislation of countries.
The webinar will be held on Zoom on 1 February at 13:00 CET. The webinar will be held in Russian, but simultaneous translation into English will be available. Please get in touch with ECOM directly for any questions about the webinar.
