Open Call
We are looking for people to participate in a study on young racialised queer people’s experiences in activism. LGBTQI youth in the Council of Europe region hail from diverse ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds. IGLYO is aware of the intertwined realities of racism, LGBTQI-phobia, sexism, classism, ableism, and ageism that are part of the lived experiences of LGBTQI youth of colour.
Therefore, we have started our journey to understand several issues concerning racial equality and racial justice in LGBTQI youth activism. We are looking for volunteers to help us in our journey by sharing with us their experience of being a young racialised queer activist in Council of Europe’s Member States.
Participants must fit all of the requirements listed below:
- Aged 18 to 30 years old
- Identity as racialised and/or as people of colour and/or of either full or partial extra-European descent
- Identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum and/or as queer
- Have significant past or current involvement in activism and activist spaces in a European country
This study is conducted by a researcher on behalf of IGLYO. This research aims to assess the barriers that young people encounter when accessing activist spaces and explore how to make these spaces more inclusive for everyone.
Participants will be invited to share their experience with the researcher during a 1h online interview and/or a focus group in Brussels (date TBC). Individual interviews will be conducted in English or French, and interviewees will receive 40€ for their participation in this work.
