LGBTQI youth activism on a hill
The third edition of now-famous IGLYO’s Activist Academy was organised in sunny Coimbra, Portugal, in collaboration with our local Member rede ex aequo. We had an amazing view from the top of the hill but it did not stop us from learning and working hard for 6 full days!
Split into three distinct stages — team building, skills acquisition and action learning — , the course not only taught young LGBTQI participants practical skills, but gave them opportunities to put their learning into practice straight away through a series of group challenges.
The programme consisted of group-building activities, a menu of skills-based workshops led by experts from international LGBTQI organisations and IGLYO’s own trainers (IGLYO, All Out, ILGA-Europe, rede ex aequo), and a series of group challenges to practise the skills they had learnt.
And as improvement never stops, this third edition of the Academy was increased to six days to include time for the participants to learn more about each other’s organisations and work and encourage greater collaboration between the network of members.
