IGLYO welcomes the release of the Third LGBTQI Survey by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), the largest EU-wide survey of LGBTQI people. For the second time, the survey includes responses from people who are 15 and older, which allows us to understand the needs of LGBTQI young people, in comparison to their older counterparts. We just published an initial analysis of the results that mainly focuses on the data related to LGBTQI youth.
While there have been some small improvements in the fields of inclusive curricula and attitudes towards expressing LGBTQI identities, the data is alarming when it comes to school bullying, mental health, intersex rights, conversion practices and overall safety, with LGBTQI youth still the most at risk of hate-motivated harassment and discrimination out of all age groups.
