Founded in 2000, Sveriges Förenade HBTQIA+-studenter (The Swedish Federation of LGBTQIA+ Student Organisations) is a national federation for LGBTQIA+ student branches throughout Sweden. SFQ is a queer feminist organisation believing in an intersectional approach to work against discriminatory structures.
As of 2009, SFQ includes 18 branches, and the number of individual members in the federation amounts to more than 1000, spread all over Sweden. The work of SFQ includes educating on LGBTQIA+ issues at universities and university colleges, and fighting heteronormativity within the academic sphere, in both the educational contents as well as in the study environment.

To achieve these goals, SFQ works through five distinct strategies: environment, quality in education, research, international cooperation and legislation. SFQ works on the premise that it is only through commitment and purposeful work of all of these five strategies that they can achieve their purpose.
