GENDERDOC-M Information Centre was founded on 8 May 1998 and is the oldest non-governmental organisation that actively promotes the rights of the LGBTQ+ community in the Republic of Moldova. They achieve their strategic objectives by:
- Informing society about sexual orientation and gender identity;
- Lobbying for the interests and rights of LGBTQ+ people in state structures and international organisations;
- Preventing HIV/AIDS and STIs;
- Organising social, informational and cultural activities for the community;
- Providing psychological and legal consultations;
- Hosting support groups for LGBTQ+ teenagers, transgender people, LGBTQ+ people living with HIV, gay and bisexual men of the third age, family members of LGBTQ+ people;
- Working with professional groups (psychologists, sociologists, journalists, policemen, medical workers);
- And more!
More recently, after the war in Ukraine, they opened a shelter for LGBTQ+ refugees.
