About

Bi’Cause

Created in 1997, Bi’Cause has existed since 1995, as a group whose first members were women who, claiming themselves as bisexual, were pushed into discomfort and repudiated by a lesbian group. Bi’Cause was the first and, for a long time, only association to carry bisexual people’ voices in France. The founders chose to become an association to carry a political and protest message.

Bi’Cause is a mixed and consensual organisation of reflection, information, and prevention concerning people who define themselves as bisexual and pansexual, or who are interested in these orientations. They offer moments and places to meet, exchange and discuss together. They participate and contribute to the inter-association reflections and events, bringing its specificity to the common actions.

Their mission

The missions of Bi’Cause are to:

  • Promote the understanding, expression and visibility of bisexuality and pansexuality, and of the people who define themselves in this way, or who are interested by these orientations;
  • Enable meetings between people, inform about those sexualities, help people especially against bi- and panphobia;
  • Struggle against any hierarchy of gender, male domination or heterosexual norm;
  • Defend victims of sexual violence or discrimination, particularly because of real or supposed bisexuality or pansexuality, and to act to overcome the binary in these domains;
  • Contribute to health and welfare development, prevention and struggle against HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases, by using all information and communication channels.
